Our 2017 ‘109 Mile Rosé’ is the ultimate dry rosé to celebrate all four seasons in Southern California.
We based this year’s rosé on the Spanish grape, Tempranillo. It was hand-harvested and specially selected for this rosé in August. Picking early allowed naturally low alcohol levels with a lively acid profile. After de-stemming and gently crushing the fruit we allowed the grapes to sit on their skins and pressed at the exact moment when we achieved just the right rose gold color. The fruit was then fermented cool in stainless steel. 6% Grenache saignee was added to the blend for aromatic lift and 3% Syrah saignee for increased complexity and a spicy finish.
Fresh white peach notes abound on the nose. Honeydew melon and light citrus notes dance to a moderate mouthfeel and a crisp dry finish. Drink it cold and enjoy it often. This rosé pairs especially well with Mexican, barbecue, and Indian food.
