The second year of the historic drought brought tiny but yields of our Syrah from Ventura County. This vintage was made with 25% stem inclusion and we balanced the acidity and tannin by blending 10% of Petite Sirah from the Santa Ynez Valley. The result is classic Ventura County aromatics of graphite, cedar, and white pepper while the palate is loaded with dark brambly fruit and a lingering finish.
The warm vintage worked well for Syrah in Ventura County. This bottling, which includes 3% Mourvèdre, offers soy sauce, purple flower, cracked pepper and dried dark-fruit aromas. The palate is viscous and rich yet savory and complex, offering soy, iodine, rosemary, baked black plum and caramel flavors.
